For the first time in the history ash cargo was shipped from the port of Klaipeda

lakiejikroviniaiIn the end of August Western Stevedoring, a subsidiary company of Western Shipyard, according to the signed contract with Fortum Klaipeda, loaded the first lot of hazardous ash cargo to the vessel HAGLAND BONA for its further delivery to Norway. Such kind of cargo, which is formed in process of burning household and industrial waste, was handled for the first time in the history of Klaipeda port.
The packed into special bags ash cargo was loaded to the vessel HAGLAND BONA on the 22nd of August 2013 at the berth No. 140 that is operated by Western Stevedoring. The total amount of loaded cargo to the mentioned vessel – 1999,44 mt.

The abovementioned ash cargo is transported with special vehicles from the new Fortum Klaipeda plant to Western Stevedoring and loaded into hermetic tank for further packing to bags using a special closed-cycle technology. Later packed ash is stored and loaded to vessels for the delivery to Norway. Foreseen annual volumes of ash to be processed – 7354 tons.
Parameters of vessel HAGLAND BONA: length – 87,8 m; wide – 12,8 m; max draft – 5,5 m; deadweight – 3536 mt.
