Western Stevedoring became a member of Association of Lithuanian Stevedoring Companies

20140131aRapidly growing company Western Stevedoring, this year on January 24 became fifteenth member of Association of Lithuanian Stevedoring Companies (ALSC).
In the general meeting of ALSC, Association members approved Western Stevedoring application for a legal membership presented by company’s director Gediminas Rimkus. The company belongs to Western Shipyard group and previous years acted as the representative of the whole group’s interests in ALSC. From now on Western Stevedoring is legal member of ALSC.

Western Stevedoring activity review for January – December, 2013

20140128bWestern Stevedoring in January-December, 2013 reached 1060.5 thousand tons throughput of sea cargoes. This is the best cargo handling result in company’s history. In comparison to corresponding period of 2012 the overall growth of handling volumes was 5.5 percent.
Within analyzed period, the highest growth was recorded in the group of liquid cargoes, which accounted +108.4 percent compared to the same period in 2012. Such result was mainly influenced by the second liquid cargo terminal, which was launched in November 2012, and was dedicated to molasses cargo processing.

Vkrova parodoje 2013Š. m. spalio 8–10 d. parodoje „Transportas ir logistika“ Minske, Baltarusijoje UAB „Vakarų krova“ pristatė savo galimybes jungtiniame Klaipėdos uosto stende, siekiant toliau plėtoti sėkmingą bendradarbiavimą su Baltarusijos eksportuotojais ir importuotojais, taip pat stiprinant Klaipėdos uosto ir jo kompanijų įvaizdį rinkoje, formuojančioje didžiausią pagal apimtį uosto tranzitinių krovinių srautą. Jungtinę uosto ekspoziciją inicijuoja ir organizuoja VĮ Klaipėdos valstybinio jūrų uosto direkcija.

For the first time in the history ash cargo was shipped from the port of Klaipeda

lakiejikroviniaiIn the end of August Western Stevedoring, a subsidiary company of Western Shipyard, according to the signed contract with Fortum Klaipeda, loaded the first lot of hazardous ash cargo to the vessel HAGLAND BONA for its further delivery to Norway. Such kind of cargo, which is formed in process of burning household and industrial waste, was handled for the first time in the history of Klaipeda port.
The packed into special bags ash cargo was loaded to the vessel HAGLAND BONA on the 22nd of August 2013 at the berth No. 140 that is operated by Western Stevedoring. The total amount of loaded cargo to the mentioned vessel – 1999,44 mt.

The first six months of operations at molasses terminal

melasos terminalAs it was scheduled the liquid cargo terminal, that was designed for molasses and other similar products, was launched on 1st of November 2012. The first lot of 3000 tons of molasses was accumulated within 2 weeks and loaded to the vessel on 13th November, 2012. Since the start of terminal operations till the end of April, 2013 a turnover of reloaded molasses has reached 60 thousand tons.

Western Stevedoring will cooperate with Fortum Klaipeda combined heating and power plant

FortumWestern Stevedoring, a subsidiary company of Western Shipyard, has signed a long-term contract with company Fortum Klaipeda, which launched the combined heating and power plant in Klaipeda. Fortum Klaipeda belongs to a Finish corporation Fortum, which is a leading energy corporation in the North Europe, Russia and in the Baltics region. The new plant, located in Klaipeda Free Economic Zone (FEZ) area nearby industrial district Lipkiai, started its operations in the beginning of year 2013. As per the signed contract Western Stevedoring delivers ash that is formed after incineration process from Fortum Klaipeda to the territory of Western Stevedoring in Klaipeda seaport. The ash is transported with special vehicles and packed to the 1000 kg capacity special bags using closed technology. After accumulation of vessel the packed ash is shipped from Lithuania for further recycling.
